Here is my fifth piece going up for grabs on Wednesday, February 16 ...
Heat Source |
All 5 pieces are mounted on 8"x10" 140-lb. watercolor paper, titled and signed, and ready for framing if desired.
I think we have all been touched by cancer in our selves, our families, or our friends, and Virginia has done a tremendous job in raising so much for research and treatment through the ACS. I don't donate money to many causes, and can't afford to donate my artwork at all ... except through Virginia and her efforts. In recent years, Karen Stiehl Osborn has also been working tirelessly with her for the Cause.
I want to thank both Virginia and Karen, from the bottom of my heart. Through them, I've not only been able to make a meaningful contribution to a cause near and dear to my heart, but have also been able to start and nourish a small collection of artwork by my favorite fiber artists.
To quote from Virginia's own website for the ONE Fundraiser:
One Hundred Collages – Created for this event by an all-star team of artists: Natalya Aikens, Pamela Allen, Laura Ann Beehler, Liz Berg, Pokey Bolton, Laura Cater-Woods, Jette Clover, Jane Davila, Jane Dunnewold, Jamie Fingal, Gloria Hansen, Leslie Tucker Jenison, Lyric Kinard, Jeanelle McCall, Linda Teddlie Minton, Karen Stiehl Osborn, BJ Parady, Judy Perez, Wen Redmond, Cynthia St. Charles, Virginia A. Spiegel.
Please join us for an exciting event of art viewing and collecting, on Wednesday, February 16. Don't miss it!
Oh MY GOSH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!! I had to look again to make sure this was your blog! Linda...this is so gorgeous!! You are so very creative! I'm totally inspired!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ophelia! This is a meaningful series for me, and I'm glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Linda. I'm drawn like a magnet to mysterious and somewhat dark music, and many times I'm attracted to the same things in visual art. This art piece, to me, suggests those things, and also a kind of enigmatic spirituality. This doesn't seem to be the usual direction your artwork takes! I'm not an artist, but I can imagine how risky it must feel to take your art in a different direction. This piece is very surprising, and just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love your vibrant colors! As always your talent amazes me. But what is even greater than your talent is your big heart. I know this fundraiser is near and dear to you and with my own sister having cancer, it is even more meaningful to me now. I hope your art work raises a lot of money for the American Cancer Society. I know you put a lot into this.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great piece, and judging from your other fiber work, will be even MORE spectacular "in person"! Unfortunately, even the best photos don't always capture everything.
ReplyDeleteHaving seen the others, this seems the
ReplyDeleteperfect compliment to complete the series. Love the "heart" of it.
This is a lovely piece viewed on t he screen and they always look better in real life. Can't wait for the auction to start.
ReplyDeleteVerrry nice! Lots of intricate work and wonderful color blending. Nice going....hope it goes for big bucks.
ReplyDeletevery cool ..love it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you guys ... now I can't wait for next Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteLinda, love your work on Heat Source! Love the different techniques and especially love the multi-dimensionality. Love the use of light and shadow to emphasis the cross. Good job!
ReplyDeleteLiz
Your work is so interesting, Linda. I can see that you're branching out and exploring -- such fun and the results are amazing.
ReplyDeleteVery nice piece. The colors are striking, and I like the denseness of the materials (I personally prefer that rather than the softer, more restrained pieces). Someone would be lucky to acquire the series, and it's even better that it's tied to such a good cause.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much! (P.S. Diane, I can't find your email address for some reason, please email me privately?)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! I LOVE the colors, texturing, movement, everything about this piece. Kudos, Linda!!!
